Malden Affordable Housing Trust heard updates on multiple housing initiatives at its February meeting.

Affordable Housing Trust Fund · Meeting of February 18, 2026

Malden Affordable Housing Trust heard updates on multiple housing initiatives at its February meeting. Housing Program Coordinator Ben Gately reported that the city has issued a contract for an economic feasibility study of its inclusionary zoning ordinance with RKG Associates, prompted by the fact that zero units have been produced under the five-year ordinance. Mayor Gary Christenson announced that the Mayor's Office of Housing Stability, serving 139 households in the most recent quarter, will close at fiscal year end due to expiring federal pandemic relief funds; the city is exploring a regional partnership to continue services.

Five development projects were in various stages, with two facing March 31 funding commitment expirations. The Trust's account held $1,558,295.79.
