Emergency Management Team · Meeting of January 21, 2026
Malden Emergency Management Committee advanced contingency planning at its January 21 meeting. Director John Kelley and member Eric Rubin agreed to evaluate City Hall as a backup Emergency Operations Center should the police station become unavailable; under the plan, 911 calls would reroute to Chelsea and Revere with staff assistance. The committee received confirmation that a new Community Emergency Response Team member had passed the required background check, heard updates on completed public health drills and planned generator testing in public buildings, and emphasized group text communication for emergency notifications.
Clerk Elaina Savino reported that the Emergency Management Performance Grant application for fiscal year 2026 has not yet opened, with the state imposing new restrictions on eligible items.
