MALDEN — The Malden Finance Committee voted unanimously to request the Mayor restore $107,500 in FY 2027 budget allocations for language access and City Council operations. The 4-0 vote sought $40,000 for language access in the City Clerk's Office, $7,500 for Ward Councillors, and $2,500 for Councillors-at-Large. The committee heard budget presentations from Dora St.

Martin (library director), Dr. Timothy Sippel (schools superintendent), and Alex Pratt (Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development director). St.

Martin reported the library has raised approximately $2.5 million since 2014 through foundations, donors, fundraising, and grants. Sippel disclosed a corrected $1.2 million error in health insurance reporting in a $102 million schools budget. Pratt said his department secured $50 million in grants since 2021, including $14 million in transportation grants.
