Cultural Council · Meeting of May 20, 2026

MALDEN — The Malden Cultural Council approved prior meeting minutes and addressed leadership succession, resetting its co-chair schedule to a June-to-June rotation after two members stepped down. Co-Chair Susan Tufts and Treasurer James Genzale interviewed 4 of 15 applicants for the vacancies, which are mayoral appointments; the council deferred filling the co-chair position to November. The council flagged a grant application with a substantial program revision, planning to review scope changes before approval.

MACFest, the community festival, is scheduled for July 11 at City Hall Courtyard with the Mayor's $6,000 allocation plus $500 from the council's administrative fund. A community survey will be distributed to guide future grant guidelines.
