Community Preservation Committee · Meeting of April 29, 2026
MALDEN — The Community Preservation Committee awarded $100,000 to Emmanuel Baptist Church for roof repair and membrane replacement. The grant, approved 5-0, represents one component of a broader restoration project; Committee Chair Rachael Running advocated for addressing the roof—the second most urgent item in the church's conditions assessment—with additional funds designated for project management. Guest Debora Jackson said the church would pursue matching funds for fire-safety equipment if the CPC funded the roof.
The Committee also voted 4-0 to extend the Start Secure contract by one calendar year, allowing the grantee to allocate the remaining $10,000 from an award originally approved in fiscal year 2020.
