City Council · Meeting of March 24, 2026

MALDEN — The Malden City Council approved a salary increase for approximately 27 Department of Public Works employees following a collective bargaining agreement reached after nearly two years without a contract. The Council unanimously enacted the ordinance effective retroactively to July 1, 2024 and approved a $175,000 transfer from Salary Reserve to fund it, both items passing 10-0. The Council also passed an amended resolution requesting Mayor Gary Christenson submit cuts to Ward Improvement Funds and Fourth of July Funds for estimated savings of $95,000 for the upcoming fiscal year.

The Council confirmed two board appointments and unanimously passed a resolution urging the state delegation to support the Mass Ready Act, which would raise the Amelia Earhart Dam approximately 18 inches to address predicted flooding in Wards One and Two.
