Malden's Rules & Ordinance Committee tabled a cannabis licensing restructuring and recommended governance and fee changes to the City Council. All four papers considered were sponsored by Chair Councillor Stephen Winslow. Vice-Chair Karen Colón Hayes raised concerns about cutting citizen representation from the Cannabis Licensing and Enforcement Commission as part of fiscal cuts, prompting the tabling.
The committee recommended reducing the Cemetery Trustees board from five to three members through attrition (3-1 vote, Councillor O'Malley dissenting), restructuring the Emergency Management Board (unanimous), and increasing a building permit fee from $16 to $18 (unanimous).
