MALDEN — The Municipal Building Committee received a $4.17 million cost estimate for the Malden River Works project and scheduled a decision meeting. Sustainability and Grants Manager Rebekah McPheeters reported that Phase 1 construction is wrapping up. designLAB presented estimates of $4,168,600 total, with $2,471,600 for the boathouse and $1,697,000 for the salt shed. The committee discussed cost-saving options that could reduce the estimate to $4,036,500 through changes including roofing materials, converting electrical conduit to cable, and removing boat racks from the construction bid.
A June 25 meeting was scheduled to decide which options to pursue.
