Municipal Building Committee - Malden River Works · Meeting of September 21, 2026
MALDEN — The Municipal Building Committee approved a $19,500 geotechnical proposal for Malden River Works. Committee members voted unanimously to authorize supplemental subsurface borings, with two to three holes drilled to depths of 40 to 60 feet, to document soil and groundwater conditions for timber pile foundation design at the proposed boathouse and salt shed. McPhail Associates submitted the proposal, specifying that the physical drilling would take two days but the full report would require six to seven weeks due to contractor scheduling and analysis time.
Members agreed the additional study was necessary to keep project costs low, noting that alternative foundation systems would be considerably more expensive if timber piles proved unsuitable.
