City Council · Meeting of September 15, 2026
Malden's Rules & Ordinance Committee amended inclusionary zoning ordinances Tuesday, splitting them to comply with state law. Chaired by Councillor Stephen Winslow, the committee unanimously approved amendments to Paper 335-26 adjusting housing market assessment reviews to occur at least every five years. For Paper 335A-26, Councillor Peg Crowe's amendment to delete the Mixed-Income Project category from the zoning use chart passed 4-1, with Councillor Ryan O'Malley dissenting.
The Planning Board had recommended disapproval over parking requirements, district incentives, height incentives, and proposed reductions to mandatory affordable housing percentages. Both ordinances were unanimously tabled pending further revision.
