Board of Appeal tables F.W. Webb signage petition

The Malden Board of Appeal tabled Petition 26-005 by F.W.

Board of Appeal · Meeting of June 17, 2026

MALDEN — The Malden Board of Appeal tabled Petition 26-005 by F.W. Webb Company, seeking a variance for a wall sign exceeding 40 square feet at 869 Eastern Ave. Represented by Ed Spinney of Sign Art, the petition drew questions from board members about hardship justification given existing signage on the building and pole.

Chairman Nathaniel Cramer suggested design alternatives, and Member Kathryn Pakenham Bilgen recommended that any revised plans include the full corporate logo and improved proportions. The board voted unanimously to table the petition and allow resubmission with alternative designs, with reconsideration scheduled for July 15, 2026.
